Bushcraft knots and shelter
Monday 24 July, 9.30am – 5pm
The Soanes Centre, Southern Grove, London E3 4PX
A full day course for outdoor educators, bushcraft and survival enthusiasts, forest school and scout leaders, and everyone interested in wild camping in a forest environment.
You will learn ropework – knots and lashings (bindings) for a range of bushcraft, wild camping and survival purposes, how to put up shelters, tarps and hammocks and also how to put a parachute up in a tree as a large group shelter.
The course is fully participative and will take place in the idyllic woodland of Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park.
Your instructor Ben Crabb is a qualifed teacher and specialist in outdoor education and countryside skills. You will be training alongside Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park rangers, and we will make tea on a campfire for our lunch break. Please bring a packed lunch.

Central region networking event (MLWW groups only)

Wild Rumpus, a woodland social enterprise focusing on the arts, will be hosting our forthcoming networking day on Wednesday 20 September. The day provides a space for groups in the Midlands and North Wales to come together, discuss the issues most affecting them and learn from each other. The day will be spent at their woodland site on the Cheshire/Staffordshire border. If you would like to reserve a place please email Megan at firstname.lastname@example.org. Any interested MLWW groups are invited to attend but space is limited and priority will be given to groups in the immediate region. Non-MLWW are welcome to express an interest in attending (please contact us at email@example.com) and may be offered a place depending on availability.
CWA & Making Local Woods Work National Conference

Information and booking details have been released for the Community Woodlands (CWA) and Making Local Woods Work Conference on Friday 20th & Saturday 21st October in Cumbernauld.
A limited number of rooms are available at the Westerwood, where we would like to fit in as many delegates as possible.
We anticipate being able to support delegates’ travel costs. Community Woodland Association (CWA) will manage delegate T&S for Scottish community groups while Plunkett Foundation will manage travel bursaries for MLWW groups from the rest of the UK.
